Naming Ceremony of Avenue Korea in New Santa Cruz City in Bolivia
International Urban Development Cooperation Center (IUC) held the naming ceremony of "Avenue Korea" ("Avenida Corea" as in Spanish) on March 9th, 2017 on the site of New Santa Cruz City in Bolivia in the presence of 200 distinguished guests from Korea and Bolivia: including Vice Minister of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of Korea, Vice President of Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), Ministers of relevant Ministries of Bolivia, Members of the House of Commons.
The 80-meter wide, 9.85-kilometer-long road bisecting the project site was named "Avenida Corea" as an expression of gratitude to LH, which has dispatched a task force team as the ACPM (Advisory Company for Program Management) of New Santa Cruz City project since 2014 to provide advice on concept planning, master plan, detailed design, etc.
IUC has been supporting participation of Korean companies through this project, winning the contract worth 13.3 billion KRW so far. Moreover, it is hoped that the naming ceremony will strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries and lead to an expansion of South Korean companies' participation in the project to build a new town in Santa Cruz as well as prospective projects for Smart City and urban infrastructure development.
IUC will continue supporting successful completion of New Santa Cruz City development and promoting Korean new town development model with which the next new towns are to be built in other emerging countries such as South East Asia and Africa.
